If you’ve never been to our practice before, here are two easy routes you could take: 

1. Take US Hwy 281 north, then get onto I-2 heading west. At exit 140, get off onto the frontage road, then turn right onto Ware Rd. Turn right again onto Buddy Owens Blvd. After you pass the entrance to the sports park, turn left into our parking lot. We’re at 3220 Buddy Owens Blvd suite 100.
2. Alternatively, you could take Hwy 83 west, then turn right onto McColl Rd. Turn left onto Pecan Blvd, then turn right onto Bicentennial Blvd. Turn left onto Kerria Ave, then right onto 23rd St. Finally, turn left onto Buddy Owens Blvd and watch for us coming up on the right after you pass Fit Grill. 

How Much Local History Do You Know?

harr, Texas, has a rich history rooted in agriculture and early 20th-century development. The city was named after Henry Newton Pharr (1872–1966), a prominent sugar planter and businessman. Pharr played a key role in the Louisiana–Rio Grande Sugar Company and the Louisiana–Rio Grande Canal Company, organizations that once owned more than 8,000 acres of land in the area. 

In 1910, these companies laid the foundation for what would become the city of Pharr, strategically building it on the land they controlled. Before founding the town, Henry Pharr had served as director of the State National Bank in New Iberia, Louisiana, and had been the Republican nominee for Louisiana governor in 1908, following in the footsteps of his father, John Newton Pharr, who ran for the same office in 1896.

Since its early agricultural roots, Pharr has grown steadily into a thriving community. The city’s population expanded rapidly in the late 20th century, rising from just over 32,000 residents in 1990 to more than 79,000 by 2019. A key moment in this growth came in 1987, when the city officially annexed the neighboring community of Las Milpas, further boosting its size and influence in the Rio Grande Valley.

Pharr’s progress and community spirit were nationally recognized in 2006 when it received the prestigious “All-America City” award. Today, the city is a dynamic blend of history, growth, and cultural pride, continuing to evolve while honoring the legacy of its founder and early residents.
